How You Can Unfork the Planet this April

How You Can Unfork the Planet this April

While every month is Earth Month at Flour + Water, we’re proud to continue shouting (loudly, but nicely) about our awesome partners at Zero Foodprint this April. If you didn't catch it, Fast Company just named them the “Most Innovative Company in Agriculture” for 2025!

Flour + Water Foods was born from our passion for championing the regenerative movement, which is why 1% of proceeds benefits Zero Foodprint’s mission to team up with farms + ranches transitioning to regenerative agriculture practices. This commitment mirrors our efforts at our restaurants in San Francisco where we also contribute 1% to the org.

This April, we’re excited to join Zero Foodprint for their Unfork the Planet campaign. Over 100 restaurants around the country will be highlighting the importance of regenerative agriculture and driving critical funding to farmers by featuring climate-smart dishes on their menus for one week during the month. While this is a national issue + campaign, it’s also deeply rooted in each community, so will directly benefit local farms.

The campaign is going tour-style, kicking off in Sonoma County from March 31st to April 6th; heading to San Diego from April 7th to April 13th; visiting us in SF from April 14th to April 20th; and wrapping up in Denver + Boulder, Portland + McMinnville, along with other restaurant partners nationwide. You can check out the calendar online to find restaurants near you who are serving up climate-smart dishes for this awesome effort. Like all of Zero Foodprint’s inspiring work, Unfork the Planet truly underscores how we can all play a small part to collectively generate significant impact for our farmers + planet.

San Francisco friends, we’re so excited that Zero Foodprint is teaming up with Progressive Hedonist for our city's dedicated week (April 14-20). Progressive Hedonist is the brainchild of Dana Cowin, an absolute legend within the culinary industry. At Progressive Hedonist, Dana is building resilience + community through meaningful advocacy work, events, and new media platforms that champion what’s possible when we come together and take action. Stay tuned for a Pasta People Q&A with this icon next week.

In the interim, snag a res at any of the restaurants in the Bay Area who are participating in the Zero Foodprint x Progressive Hedonist Unfork the Planet week. Those include: The Anchovy Bar, Bar Crudo, Fiorella Sunset, Frances, La Mediterranée, Linea Caffe, Mamahuhu, Mission Chinese Food, Mr. Tipple’s Jazz Club, Nightbird, Nopa, Octavia, The Progress, State Bird, True Laurel, Wesburger N’ More. There's still time for restaurants to sign up, so keep an eye on the website for new additions.

Over at Penny Roma, we’ll be dropping a dish that showcases our commitment to reducing waste in our kitchens on a daily basis. We'll be incorporating our favorite veggie scraps into a nourishing filled pasta that's also nourishing for the planet.

Looking for other ways to support? You can nominate a restaurant who you think would love to be part of this campaign, and, as always, direct donations are super welcome.
